Hello, I’m SGT Haugh.

I have always wanted to serve in the military. I was a 17 year old high school junior and I did not have lots of options for paying for college. Active duty military was not an option because I wanted to stay in Oklahoma with my family. Then, after taking the ASVAB, or Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, I was contacted and was told that I was eligible to join the National Guard and get financial assistance with college. I signed up immediately and became a “Citizen Soldier” in my own community as the Military Occupational Specialty 13J. The primary reason I joined was to get my college paid for and join a team. I wanted the stability and professionalism of being an Army National Guard soldier. I wanted to carry on a legacy and tradition of my family members who served. Without the Oklahoma Army National Guard I would not be the person that I am today.
